Rabi Ghosh was born on 24 November 1931. He is regarded as one of the finest comic actors in the history of Indian and Bengali cinema. He also worked extensively in Bengali theatres and televisions too. His full name is Robi Ghosh Dastidar. He debuted in the big screen with Ahobanin 1959. He gained shot to fame with Golpo Holeo Shotti by Tapan Sinha. He went on to star in notable films mainly directed by Satyajit Ray such as Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne(1968), Hirak Rajar Deshe(1980), Goopy Bagha Phire Elo(1991), Aranyer Din Ratri(1970), Padma Nadir Majhi(1993), Abhijan(1962). He directed Nidhiram Sardar. He died on 4 February 1997.
